Rajeeva Samarawickra

I’m a very passionate mountain biker and road rider, and find that riding is a great stress release and helps clear my head after a busy day. Riding just makes me happy – I call it my ‘meditation’ on wheels. However, hundreds of people in Sri Lanka suffer deeply, fighting their inner demons while thinking that there’s no help available. Their state of mind, however, cannot be changed by a simple bike ride. As many as 11 people commit suicide every day in Sri Lanka because they think there’s no solution to their issues.

The 1333 Bikeathon has given me this opportunity to combine two of my passions: cycling and seeing Sri Lanka from the perspective of a cyclist. The 1333 Bikeathon in August 2018 will bring awareness to the 1333 counselling hotline. For many people who would have otherwise thought the only solution to their problems is to end their life, this hotline will be their first step to find that inner peace. If I could assist just one person to reach out and phone the 1333 hotline, then riding 1333 kilometres around Sri Lanka would have been well worth the effort. So please help me to help hundreds of others realise that help is only a phone call away, by sponsoring me to ride 1333 kilometres around Sri Lanka in 13 days from 29 August to 10 September 2018. Your donation will bring me closer to my target of helping as many people as I can to find their own ‘Meditation on wheels’.

Please sponsor me so we can reach our fundraising target to keep the phone lines open at CCCline 1333 for those going through crisis, or simply want to talk to someone about their problems. THANK YOU!
